How are the implants inserted?

The implants are inserted with a small surgical operation, normally performed in the dentist’s surgery under local anaesthesia. The most commonly used technique is:
1. Making an incision in the gum.
2. Using a special drill to drill a hole in the bone to position the chosen implant.
3. Positioning the implant in the hole.

1. Depending on the technique used, a small incision in the gum may be necessary to uncover the implant.
2. If using the transmucous technique, the incision in the gum will not be necessary. The implant will be ready for use as support for the fixed prosthesis (crown or bridge).

1. Implants used as anchorage for a removable prosthesis.
2. Implant used as support for a fixed prosthesis (crown or bridge)

ADVANCED SURGERY: When the bone thickness and height are not sufficient to insert an implant using standard techniques, in some cases special advanced surgery techniques will be used to increase the bone thickness and height before or during insertion of the implant.
